In this sermon from 1 Kings 19, we meet Elijah immediately after the victory at Mount Carmel. Afraid, isolated, and exhausted, he sits beneath a broom tree and tells the Lord he has had enough.
God does not discard His weary servant. He provides food and rest, addresses Elijah through His Word, corrects his belief that he is alone, and reveals that His work will continue beyond Elijah’s strength.
This passage speaks to temporary fatigue and to the deeper weariness that can develop through long seasons of responsibility, grief, pain, uncertainty, or unanswered prayer. It also points us to Jesus Christ, the faithful Son who comes near to weary people and carries the saving burden we never could.
