Grace at The King’s Table

In this sermon from 2 Samuel 9, we continue the summer series Small Stories, Big Faith by looking at David’s covenant kindness to Mephibosheth.

Mephibosheth is a vulnerable man from Saul’s fallen house. When David summons him, he may expect judgment. Instead, David says, “Do not fear,” restores his land, and gives him a permanent place at the king’s table.

This story points us to Jesus Christ, the greater Son of David, who seeks the lost, welcomes sinners for another’s sake, and brings His people near. We are invited to the King’s table, not because we deserve to be there, but because God is more good than we can imagine.
