A Better City and a Better Way

A Better City and a Better Way

In this sermon from Hebrews 12:18-29 and 13:1-25, we conclude our series through Hebrews by looking at where Jesus has brought His people and how that new belonging shapes daily life.

Hebrews contrasts Sinai and Zion, distance and access, what can be shaken and the kingdom that cannot be shaken. Through Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant, believers have come to the city of the living God and to blood that speaks a better word. That is the foundation for reverent worship and steady hope.

The sermon also shows that Hebrews 13 is not a collection of disconnected moral instructions. It is the lived shape of the better city: love, hospitality, purity, contentment, praise, doing good, sharing what we have, and going to Jesus outside the camp. The final word is not human resolve, but the grace of the God who equips His people to do His will through Jesus Christ.
