In this final sermon from the summer series Small Stories, Big Faith, we look at Naaman in 2 Kings 5:1-19.
Naaman is a powerful and honoured commander, but his strength cannot make him clean. He approaches Israel with political influence and immense wealth, then nearly rejects the prophet’s simple instruction because it does not match the impressive encounter he expected.
The Lord’s grace humbles Naaman, gives the cleansing he cannot earn, and produces worship and new allegiance. Jesus later points to Naaman as an unlikely outsider who received mercy while presumed insiders treated grace like an entitlement.
This message calls us to stop negotiating with grace, come to Christ empty-handed, take God at His Word, and entrust ourselves to a strong and faithful Saviour.
