Faith in Loss

Faith in Loss

In this sermon from Ruth 1-4, we continue the summer series Small Stories, Big Faith by looking at Naomi’s loss, Ruth’s loyalty, Boaz’s redemption, and the Lord’s surprising reversal.

Ruth begins with famine, displacement, death, and emptiness. But the story does not end there. The Lord works through ordinary faithfulness and costly kindness to restore Naomi, welcome Ruth the Moabite, and preserve the line that leads to David.

This sermon traces the path from Ruth to Christ. Boaz is a good redeemer, but Jesus is the true Redeemer who comes near to the empty, welcomes outsiders, and restores what sin and death have broken.
