In this sermon from 1 Samuel 3:1-21, we continue the summer series Small Stories, Big Faith by looking at Samuel’s call in a spiritually dark season.
The word of the Lord was rare, Eli’s house was compromised, and God’s people were spiritually dull. Yet the lamp of God had not gone out. The Lord graciously spoke, called Samuel, and raised up a faithful prophet.
This sermon traces the path from Samuel to Christ. Samuel receives the word of the Lord, but Jesus is the Word made flesh. Samuel speaks a word of judgment, but Jesus bears judgment for His people at the cross. The call is not merely to listen like Samuel, but to listen to Christ.
