We’re excited to announce our upcoming sermon series for the Advent season! Beginning November 16th and running through December 28th, we’ll be exploring the theme of faithful waiting through a series called “The Long-Awaited King.”
Why Plan Ahead?
You might notice something different this time: we’re publishing our entire sermon calendar in advance. This is a deliberate shift in how we approach teaching at Hudson’s Hope Chapel, and we believe it will benefit our church family in several important ways.
First, it helps you prepare spiritually. When you know what’s coming, you can read ahead, pray through the passages, and come to Sunday worship with hearts already engaged with God’s Word. Rather than teaching catching you by surprise, you can be ready to dig deeper.
Second, it enables meaningful conversation. Families can discuss the upcoming sermon topic at home. Small groups that may meet can align their studies with the Sunday message. Friends can wrestle with the same biblical truths together throughout the week. Advance notice turns Sunday’s sermon into Sunday’s launching point.
Third, it demonstrates that we take teaching seriously. Biblical exposition requires careful preparation. Publishing our plan in advance is a commitment—to the text, to the series trajectory, and to you. It’s our way of saying: we’ve thought this through, we believe God has something to say, and we’re inviting you into the journey.
Finally, it respects your time. In a world that demands your attention from every direction, advance notice allows you to plan accordingly. Whether you’re coordinating work schedules, family commitments, or travel plans, you can see what’s coming and make informed decisions about your participation in the life of the church.
About “The Long-Awaited King”
This Advent series traces the arc of God’s redemptive promise from the prophetic anticipation of the Old Testament through the miraculous events surrounding Christ’s incarnation. Series Trajectory
The series moves chronologically through a powerful progression:
- Ancient prophetic longing
- Angelic announcements
- Human responses of faith
- The birth of the King
