The desire for power and significance is a near universal human trait, Many people seek to find a source of power and influence, but power can also easily corrupt.
In John 14:8-14, Jesus describes power in a very different way, and tells his disciples something that can be hard for us to eve wrap our minds around — that not only do his followers have access to the same source of power he does, but that we will do “greater works”.
But how can we live up to that standard? And what would that even look like? Is Jesus really saying that we can do things even greater than he did?
We unpack this challenging passage, thinking about how a proper understanding of these words not only helps us to carry out this work, but ensures we understand our place and purpose.
